Internet Fraud: Remembering Choice Point

Join us for an informative presentation in June from Ed Sniffen, Senior Assistant Attorney General in the Commercial and Fair Business Section of the Alaska Department of Law. Mr. Sniffen will talk about the Choice Point case, which involved a breach of security of a data system containing personal information on millions of people. As a result, the state recently passed comprehensive legislation that protects personal information, and requires anyone who stores personal information to disclose any breach of security of any data system.

In addition, Mr. Sniffen will cover how his department responds to consumer complaints such as internet fraud (eBay scams, phishing scams) and some of the legal ramifications of identity theft.
